Built to Last

Why our concrete doesn't crack.

Ottawa's freeze-thaw cycles destroy cheap concrete. If the base isn't right, the reinforcement is skipped, or the control joints are in the wrong place, you'll see cracks within two years. We've been doing this long enough to know exactly where corners get cut — and we don't cut them.

Every pour gets a compacted granular base, rebar or fibre mesh reinforcement, proper control joints at calculated intervals, and a minimum 28-day cure period before heavy use. That's why our work lasts — and why we back it with a written warranty.

Proper Base Preparation

6" compacted granular base minimum. We don't pour on dirt — that's how you get settling and cracking.

Rebar Reinforcement

Steel rebar or fibre mesh on every structural pour. Holds the slab together through freeze-thaw cycles.

Control Joints Done Right

Cut at calculated intervals so the concrete cracks where we want it to — invisibly, in the joint, not across your driveway.

Written Warranty

We stand behind our work with a written warranty on every project. If something isn't right, we fix it.

Reviews

What Ottawa homeowners say.

"Our 40-year-old driveway was a disaster — cracked, heaving, patches everywhere. Bedrock tore it all out, rebuilt the base properly, and poured a beautiful exposed aggregate driveway. Five Ottawa winters later, not a single crack. Best money we ever spent on the house."

— Paul & Catherine F.

Driveway Replacement, Barrhaven — Google Review

"Had a stamped patio done in our backyard — ashlar slate pattern with a charcoal border. Everyone thinks it's real stone. The crew was professional, the forms were perfect, and they sealed it before they left. Gorgeous."

— Nicole B.

Stamped Patio — Orleans

"Foundation pour for our addition — had to match the existing basement depth and tie into the old footings. They handled the engineering, the permits, and passed inspection first time. Absolutely knew what they were doing."

— Alex M.

Foundation — Westboro

From estimate to cured concrete.

1

Free Estimate

We visit your property, assess the site, and give you a detailed written quote — materials, labour, timeline. No obligation.

3

Pour & Finish

Concrete delivered and poured. Levelled, finished to your spec (broom, exposed, stamped), control joints cut, edges detailed.

4

Cure & Seal

Proper curing time, sealer applied (decorative work), forms stripped, site cleaned. We walk you through care instructions so it lasts.

About Bedrock Concrete

We pour it right. Every time.

I started Bedrock Concrete because I was tired of seeing cracked driveways and failing patios all over Ottawa — work that shouldn't have failed but did because corners were cut. Skipped rebar, thin bases, bad joints. It doesn't have to be that way.

Sixteen years later, our approach hasn't changed: do the prep work properly, use the right materials, and don't rush the cure. Concrete is unforgiving — you get one shot to do it right. That's why every pour gets the same attention to detail whether it's a small walkway or a commercial foundation.

Every crew member is trained, insured, and WSIB covered. We handle permits, utility locates, and engineering drawings when needed. When we leave your property, the only thing remaining is concrete you'll be proud of for decades.

Service Area

Serving Ottawa
and the valley.

We pour concrete across Ottawa and surrounding communities — Kanata, Barrhaven, Orleans, Stittsville, Manotick, Kemptville, and Russell. Residential and commercial.

FAQ

Common questions.

What Ottawa homeowners ask most about concrete work.

How long before I can drive on my new driveway?

We recommend waiting at least 7 days before walking on it and 28 days before parking a vehicle on it. Concrete reaches full strength at 28 days. We'll give you a care sheet with specific timelines for your project.

Can you pour concrete in cold weather?

We pour when temperatures are consistently above 5°C — typically late April through mid-November in Ottawa. Cold pours require heated blankets and additives, which we can do for time-sensitive projects, but ideal conditions give better results.

What's the difference between stamped concrete and pavers?

Stamped concrete is a monolithic slab with a textured pattern pressed in — it's faster to install, has fewer weeds, and doesn't shift. Pavers are individual pieces that can be replaced individually. We do stamped concrete; it's our specialty. Happy to explain the pros and cons for your specific project.

Will concrete crack?

All concrete develops micro-cracks — that's the nature of the material. The key is controlling where those cracks happen. Properly placed control joints, rebar reinforcement, and a good base make sure any cracking is invisible and structural integrity is maintained. That's exactly what we do.

Do you remove the old concrete?

Yes. Full tear-out and haul-away is included in our replacement quotes. We don't pour on top of old concrete — proper removal and base preparation is the only way to get a result that lasts.
