Reviews

What Halifax homeowners say.

"We had carpenter ants coming out of our bathroom wall. Called Shield on a Monday morning, they were here by afternoon. Found the colony in the soffit, treated it, and sealed the entry point. Haven't seen an ant since. Fast and thorough."

— Laura & Dave T.

Carpenter Ants — Clayton Park

"Raccoon in the attic — scratching all night. They installed a one-way door, the raccoon left on its own, and they sealed every possible entry point. Professional, humane, and they even cleaned up the mess it left behind."

— Christine M.

Raccoon Removal — Dartmouth

"We run a restaurant downtown and need pest control we can count on. Shield does monthly inspections, keeps the documentation for health inspectors, and we haven't had a single issue since they took over. Completely reliable."

— Michael R.

How It Works

From call to pest-free. Here's how.

1

Call or Book

Tell us what you're dealing with. We'll ask a few questions and book an inspection — often same-day.

2

Inspection

We identify the pest, find the source and entry points, and explain exactly what we recommend — in plain language.

3

Treatment

Targeted treatment using family-safe products. We treat the source — not just what you can see. Entry points sealed.

4

Follow-Up

We check back to make sure the problem is gone. If it's not, we come back — no extra charge. Prevention plan optional.

About Shield Pest Control

We solve it. We prevent it. Period.

I started Shield Pest Control because I believed homeowners deserved better than what most pest companies offer — show up late, spray the baseboards, hand you a bill, and leave. That's not pest control. That's a bandaid.

Real pest control means finding the source, treating it properly, sealing the entry points, and following up to make sure the problem is actually gone. That's what we do on every single call. We use targeted, family-safe products — no fogging your whole house with chemicals you can't pronounce.

Every technician on our team is provincially licensed, CPMA certified, and trained in the latest integrated pest management techniques. We treat your home like our own — because your peace of mind is our reputation.

Service Area

Serving Halifax
and HRM.

We provide residential and commercial pest control across the Halifax Regional Municipality — Halifax, Dartmouth, Bedford, Sackville, Cole Harbour, and surrounding communities.

FAQ

Common questions.

Answers to what homeowners ask most about pest control.

Is the treatment safe for kids and pets?

Yes. We use targeted, low-toxicity products applied in precise locations — not blanket spraying. For most treatments, you can re-enter the treated area within 1–2 hours. We'll give you specific instructions for your situation.

How quickly can you get here?

We offer same-day service for most calls received before noon. For urgent situations (wasp nests near doors, active rodent infestations, bed bugs), we prioritize and can often be there within a few hours.

Do you offer a guarantee?

Yes. If the pests come back within our warranty period, we come back and re-treat at no extra cost. The warranty length depends on the pest and treatment type — we'll explain it clearly before we start.

Do I need to leave my house during treatment?

For most treatments, no. You may need to leave the room being treated for a short period. For heat treatments (bed bugs), you'll need to be out for the day. We'll let you know exactly what to expect ahead of time.

What's the difference between a one-time treatment and a prevention plan?

A one-time treatment solves the immediate problem. A prevention plan includes scheduled visits (monthly or quarterly) to maintain a barrier around your home and catch any new activity early. Prevention plans are ideal for homes that have had recurring issues or are in high-risk areas.
